Freedom Mobile Promo Offers 3GB Bonus Data, Matching Fido, Koodo and Virgin

Shaw’s Freedom Mobile has launched a 3GB bonus data promo for 24 months, which is available today until April 30, 2018, available only in-store.

Freedom mobile 3GB data promo

The 3GB bonus is available on Big Gig and Big Gig Everywhere plans, along with the Home 40 plan, when you activate a new line.

Here’s what the plans work out to plus the 3GB data bonus, which is applicable only within the Freedom Mobile Home network:

  • Big Gig 50: $50 for 10GB data + 3GB bonus
  • Big Gig 70: $70 for 15GB data + 3GB bonus
  • Big Gig 90: $90 for 20GB data + 3GB bonus
  • Big Gig Everywhere Canada 50: $50 for 5GB + 3GB bonus
  • Big Gig Everywhere Canada 60: $60 for 10GB + 3GB bonus
  • Big Gig Everywhere Canada 75: $75 for 12GB + 3GB bonus
  • Big Gig Everywhere Canada 100: $100 for 20GB + 3GB bonus
  • Home 40: $40 for 2GB + 3GB bonus

This promo comes as the flanker brands of Rogers, Telus and Bell—Fido, Koodo and Virgin—all are simultaneously running their own 3GB data bonus promos, however Freedom Mobile has incumbent flanker brands beat as their plans are cheaper and include more data, but network performance may be spotty in areas without newer LTE towers.

Let us know if you’re going to jump on any of these promos.

Surprisingly Some folks don’t have Internet at home so they need more data.

For a solid week I didn’t have Internet at my house after moving in, had to tether to my phone to do work. Blew right through my 8 GB allotment. I’m so thankful that Freedom doesn’t have overage charges and lets you keep using your data (albeit at a crawl). It was definitely painful not having full speed data for a while after though. Doesn’t help that you stay on the LTE network when they throttle the connection, and their online usage tool sometimes takes up to 48 hours to update, so I thought I was having coverage issues…

You don’t have to take it if you’d rather not have an extra 3GB for two years.

I don’t give a fuck about “big gig” they can fuck themselves. If I use my phone as a router my laptop will use that 10gigs in 10 minutes. How about they focus on their throttle speed AFTER you go over because there’s no reason to throttle download speeds from 36 MBs all the way down to .2 MEGABYTES A SECOND….

Isn’t that the same with every other provider? at least with Freedom you’re getting 13gigs with bonus versus 4-6gigs for Robellus

Don’t use Freedom Mobile… They give you bigger data cap to compensate their horrible network. I’m living in Vancouver area, most of the time is ‘ away ‘ . drop to LTE, and ‘ no service ‘. I’m using iPhone 7+.

On the contrary, I don’t really have any problem and I am in Van area as well. Albeit, I do agree with you that “away” shows up if you’ve gone underground and sometimes the phone doesn’t switch back to “home” when you’re back on the street-level again, to compensate for that, I have set my iPhone 8+ to not do auto provider search and keep permanently on “home” in the cellular network setting. This has, for the most part, resolved away/home problem.

I have a friend who works with Freedom and I am told they are investing heavily in improving the coverage and making the service better. I am happy to support the fourth provider not just because of my friend, but for them bringing in more competition and saving us from Robellus.
