Google’s Annual Hardware Launch Event Confirmed for October 9 in New York City

Google is set to announce its forthcoming (and thoroughly-leaked) Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL family of smartphones.

According to invites sent out by the tech giant, the heavily-leaked Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones from Google are supposed to make their first appearance as the main highlights during the Made by Google event officially announced on October 9th, at 8 AM PT/11 AM ET and will be held at the Spring Studios in New York City.

While it’s not confirmed that Google will indeed unveil the Pixel devices, it’s incredibly likely for a number of reasons. Google throws these events every October, and because October 9 was recently pegged as the exact date for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL launch. Finally, the invite comes complete with the hashtag #madebygoogle — which Google uses exclusively for its hardware products.

The Pixel 3 XL is expected to have a notch design, where a cutout at the top of the screen houses the front-facing camera. This has garnered some criticism, as the notch on the Pixel 3 XL looks unusually large. The smaller Pixel 3 may have a more traditional design, with slimmer bezels on the top and bottom.

As for what’s on the inside, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices are presumed to run the newly revealed Android Pie earlier this summer and with a Snapdragon 845 chip which might be paired with as much RAM as possible, probably up to 6 GB RAM.

Google is also expected to announce the Pixel Stand, a wireless charging dock that also turns the smartphone’s screen into a Smart Display for Google Assistant. The Mountain View company is also rumoured to be preparing to launch its own Smart Display to compete with Amazon’s Echo Show.

Other products that are rumoured to be announced are two new Pixelbooks, as well as a potential follow-up to the Google Pixel Buds. While these are some of the products that many expect to be unveiled, it’s highly likely that Google will announce more products that we otherwise haven’t heard much about.
