Rogers to Launch ‘Ultra’ Tier Plans on Day of Apple’s 2018 iPhone Event
Rogers has announced it will launch new Ultra tier plans for customers on two-year contracts, available first to those in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Atlantic Canada and the Prairies are set to come soon after.
With new Ultra tier plans, the company explains they will allow customers to “get the latest iconic devices for as low as $0 upfront.”
“We know that many of our customers want to get their hands on the latest smartphones, but sometimes the upfront cost is a barrier for them,” said Brent Johnston, President, Wireless, Rogers Communications, in an emailed statement to iPhone in Canada.
Ultra will offer consumer customers up to $250 off the upfront cost of select devices on two-year terms, for an extra $10 per month. The tier will be placed above Premium+ plans, which start at $110 for 1GB of data and unlimited Canada-wide calling.
Rogers has yet to release full pricing details for Ultra plans, but with the tier set to be placed above Premium+, expect the starting price to be around $120 per month.
With advance news of the Rogers Ultra plan tier set to debut on September 12—the same day as Apple’s 2018 iPhone event—we believe it suggests a price increase from Apple on its latest models, in particular, the rumoured larger ‘iPhone XS Max’.
