A recent Reddit post has pointed out that Apple suddenly decided to overhaul a support document about MagSafe chargers for MacBooks on Tuesday, July 20. This is the first time the support document has been updated since being published in November, 2016.
The now five year-old support page got a complete facelift, with outdated information and ancient images being replaced with more clear, concise instructions and graphics that better fit the current aesthetics of the Apple website. The change was first spotted by MacRumors reporter Sami Fathi (@SamiFathi_). Both Apple’s decision to redesign the support document and the timing of the renovation are peculiar, since no MacBook currently sold by Apple features MagSafe technology.
This has led many to believe that the revamped support document could be a sign of things to come — after all, MagSafe has been widely rumoured to make a return with the next MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The upcoming 2021 MacBook Pro has even been glimpsed sporting an all-new MagSafe connector in leaked Apple documents.
The 2021 MacBook Pro is expected to feature next-gen Apple Silicon in the form of an M1X processor, as well as an upgraded mini-LED display. According to a report from MacRumors earlier today, the mini-LED backlight units rumoured for the 2021 MacBook Pro will start shipping sometime in the third quarter.
Another next-gen Apple System on a Chip (SoC), the M2, has already gone into mass production for future MacBooks.
