Rare Apple Promo Discounts iPhone 13, Apple Watch and More–Only in China

Apple on Monday announced a retail promotion in China that will offer discounts on several of its products in China, including the iPhone 13 Pro series — reports Bloomberg.

The company almost never slashes flagship iPhone prices in China. Apple has also had a good couple of months for iPhone sales in the region as China rebounds from a COVID-19 outbreak that crippled not only industry but consumer demand as well.

That said, it is quite possible that Apple has a surplus inventory of iPhone 13s and wants to sell as many as possible before the iPhone 14 launches later this fall.

Once the discounts go live, Chinese buyers will get up to 600 yuan ($89 USD) off the iPhone 13 Pro series. The promotion will be available between July 29 and August 1, and it will also cover some AirPods and Apple Watch models.

It’s unclear if we’ll ever see sales like these on current products in Canada or the USA.

Discounts will only be available to customers making purchases through specific payment platforms like Alipay.

The full list of discounted Apple products can be seen below:

  • iPhone 13 Pro Max or iPhone 13 Pro, you can save RMB 600 immediately.
  • iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 mini, you can save RMB 600.
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation) can save RMB 200.
  • iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 mini, you can save RMB 500 instantly.
  • Save RMB 200 on Apple Watch SE.
  • AirPods Pro can save RMB 250.
  • AirPods (third generation) can save RMB 150.

Apple will report its fiscal third-quarter earnings on Thursday. Financials and growth aren’t expected to be nearly as explosive as in previous quarters, especially given that worldwide smartphone shipments dropped 9% between April and June. While Apple’s competitors saw more of an impact from that decline, the iPhone maker wasn’t untouched either.

Apple’s suppliers are well into iPhone 14 mass production, and we should see the lineup launch later this year in September.
