Nova Scotia Picks Rogers for $18 Million Cellular Service Expansion

Nova Scotians in areas lacking cell service will soon experience improved connectivity due to the province’s largest ever investment in cellular infrastructure.
Over the next two years, existing infrastructure will be upgraded and additional towers will be constructed, by Rogers.
“Nova Scotians need reliable cell service. It’s no longer a luxury; it’s a matter of safety and everyone deserves access,” said Kim Masland, Minister of Public Works and Minister responsible for Build Nova Scotia, in a statement. “This important investment will enhance coverage in rural and remote communities across our province.”
Rogers was picked to perform the upgrades, through a request for proposals to update 27 existing sites and connect them to the company’s 5G network. Nova Scotia will also invest an extra $18.6 million in the Cellular for Nova Scotia Program to add 27 new provincially owned cell towers in unserved areas, in addition to four announced last October.
“We are proud to partner with the Government of Nova Scotia and Build Nova Scotia on the Cellular for Nova Scotia Program to close gaps in wireless coverage and improve public safety across the province for residents, visitors and businesses,” said Phil Hartling, President, Wireless, Rogers, in a statement.
An initial $47.3 million investment last October was announced to launch the Cellular for Nova Scotia. The first four towers will debut next spring, with the remaining new and upgraded sites in place between next summer and the spring of 2027.

Huge unforced error paying a big corp to do something they were already given money from a higher level government to do… only to then charge your people for the privilege of using it.
Seems like a missed opportunity having Rogers do this! What about Halifax based East Link?
I was thinking the same thing about Eastlink
I am happy that Bell has not got this contract.
