iPhone 16 Release Date: Same Time as Last Year, Says Report

Will Apple delay the iPhone 16 series release date to coincide with the launch of Apple Intelligence? Don’t count on it, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Gurman previously reported Apple Intelligence will be delayed, with an iOS 18.1 release in October, after new iPhones go on sale. In his Sunday PowerOn newsletter, sources have informed him that the iPhone 16 series launch will take place as scheduled, similar to last year. A possible date is September 10, 2024.

After the iPhone 16 series launch, iOS 18.1 will be required to get Apple Intelligence features in October. Gurman’s take on Apple Intelligence is that it’s not a game changer right now and it’s more hype than anything in its initial state.

“In their current state, they’re a far cry from the game-changing technology that fans and investors hope Apple Intelligence will become,” writes Gurman. But he did find Writing Tools, Type to Siri and call recording summaries as the best features right now.

Have you tried Apple Intelligence in beta yet with iOS 18.1? You’ll need this workaround to get it working in Canada.
