Apple’s Foldable iPad Might Have a 19-inch Display, But Delayed: Report

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has in the past provided accurate timelines of Apple’s product roadmap, but has since been mixed in his predictions, provided an update on Wednesday regarding Apple’s foldable MacBook or iPad.

Kuo said there are significant delays in mass production according to his sources. The final display size has been reportedly confirmed at 18.8 inches, with Apple canceling the previously considered 20.25-inch design. Due to technical challenges related to the display and mechanical components, the mass production schedule has been pushed back from the first half of 2026 to the end of 2027 or 2028, said Kuo.

There were earlier expectations that Apple might launch a foldable iPad in 2025, but the current supply chain survey shows no signs of this product. Kuo says this foldable MacBook is being referred to as a foldable iPad. So what is it?

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reiterated his previous reporting last week, stating that the foldable iPad is unlikely to arrive before 2027 or 2028. According to sources familiar with the project, Apple is working on a large, foldable iPad, but its release is still years away. Regardless, any new foldable from Apple is likely going to be very expensive as a first-get product.

What about a foldable iPhone? That’s is apparently set for 2026, according to a report last month.
