What’s New in iOS 18.1 Beta 3 [VIDEO]

Apple on Wednesday released iOS 18.1 beta 3 and more for developers. One of the biggest changes for those in Canada is the native availability of the Apple Intelligence beta, without the need for any region-changing shenanigans. This means that iPhone 15 Pro users in Canada can now sign up for and use Apple Intelligence features without having to employ any workarounds.

Here’s what you can download right now:

  • iOS 18.1 beta 3 (22B5034e)
  • iPadOS 18.1 beta 3 (22B5034e)
  • macOS 15.1 beta 3 (24B5035e)
  • tvOS 18 beta 8 (22J5356a)
  • visionOS 2 beta 8 (22N5318a)

As for what’s new in iOS 18.1 beta 3, here’s a list of some changes according to Brandon Butch on YouTube:

Apple Intelligence:

  • New splash screen during setup.
  • AI-generated notification summaries for all apps (limited to summaries for Mail and Messages notifications in previous betas).

Photos App:

  • New ‘Clean Up’ feature that leverages AI processing to remove unwanted objects from photos and fill in the gaps.
  • The ‘Clean Up’ tool can also be used to censor people’s faces in images.

Stickers:

  • Third-party stickers can now be added to messages in line with emojis.

iOS 18.1 beta 3 also comes with all the new features included in iOS 18 beta 8, which came out yesterday as well.

The arsenal of Apple Intelligence features available for testing is steadily growing, although there’s still no sign of previously touted offerings like Image Playground, Genmoji, and ChatGPT integration. Apple’s redesigned Siri 2.0, meanwhile, isn’t even expected to debut until 2025.

A public beta for iOS 18.1 beta 3 — if there even will be one — should arrive sometime today or tomorrow. Apple will likely release iOS 18.1 beta 4 in two weeks.
