Apple’s MacBook Air Gets Double the Memory, No Extra Cost

Aside from debuting the M4, M4 Max and M4 Pro for the MacBook Pro line, Apple quietly added in that the MacBook Air now comes with double the memory as standard, with no extra cost.
Apple says the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air is the “world’s most popular laptop” and now starts with 16GB of RAM, up from 8GB. It’s one giant “finally”, as this upgrade definitely will help with Apple Intelligence tasks.
M2 and M3 MacBook Air models now have 16GB of RAM, with the same starting price of $1,299 in Canada. Apple says this is “a terrific value for the world’s best-selling laptop.”
At $1,299, the entry M2 13-inch MacBook Air with 8-core CPU/GPU now includes 16GB RAM to go with its entry 256GB SSD. Back in March, the M2 MacBook Air received a price drop after M3 models were announced. This double the RAM upgrade is a nice touch if you don’t need the latest M-series chip. We are still waiting for an M4 MacBook Air, likely coming next spring.
MacBook Air comes in colours midnight, starlight, silver, and space grey, and education customers get a discount of course.

This is a welcome surprise!
A welcome surprise, except for all the people who got the 8 GB version.
