The Grok AI chatbot from xAI is now free for all users on X, but in limited capacity.
Previously, Grok was limited to paid Premium and Premium Plus users. But now, Grok will let regular users send up to 10 messages to the chatbot for free every two hours. Grok is from Elon Musk’s xAI, which recently raised $6 billion US in fresh capital, to now have a valuation of over $40 billion US.
Grok is an AI that’s designed to give helpful and accurate answers by deeply understanding your questions. It can explain complex topics in areas like math, science, and programming, and even provide real-time help for dynamic conversations.
Once you’ve used up your 10 free messages, it asks you to sign up for Premium or Premium Plus if you want more access, or “check back later”.

What makes Grok different is its focus on truth, according to the chatbot itself. It presents various perspectives on controversial topics without bias and doesn’t make up answers if it doesn’t know something. It also offers an outsider’s perspective on human culture, which can add fresh or funny insights. The advantage of Grok over other AI platforms is that it can leverage real-time posts on X. This makes it easy to find out news on something in real-time.
Grok can also generate images and goes beyond regular boundaries of ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and Meta AI, for example.
