Taylor Swift Ends Eras Tour in Vancouver, Grossing a Record Breaking $2 Billion

Taylor Swift has concluded her two-year-long Eras Tour after a short three-night stint in Vancouver, BC. The Eras Tour ended up smashing concert records, accumulating $2.07 billion USD (around $2.9 billion CAD) over 21 months.

Swift played her final show of the Era’s Tour in Vancouver on Sunday. Following the show, Taylor Swift Touring confirmed the final revenue of the tour was $2,077,618,725 USD. This is the first official tally of revenue from the tour. As first reported by The New York Times, the gross revenue earned by the Eras Tour surpasses other notable records for live concert tours.

The previous record belongs to Elton John and his Farewell Yellow Brick Road which accumulated $939 million USD (roughly $1.34 billion CAD). Swift’s Eras Tour effectively doubles that of the John’s record and any other concert tour in history. However, Swift may have some competition in the works. Coldplay has recently begun its Music of the Spheres tour. With concerts booked into mid-2025, the tour has passed $1 billion USD (around $1.4 billion CAD). While still a far reach away from taking the mantle away from Swift, if Coldplay continues adding more tour dates, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Eras Tour could be surpassed.

Across 149 shows, Swift’s Era Tour ticket sales averaged around $204 USD (roughly $287 CAD). Unfortunately, scalpers and resellers did drive ticket prices up to highs of over $2,000 CAD in some cases. Before the tour even started, Swift’s bout of shows tanked Ticketmaster’s servers in 2022. More than 3.5 billion ticket transactions were made. The ticket sales made such an impact that a US hearing was held to look at Live Nation and its alleged monopoly it has over the ticketing market.

In total, Taylor Swift played nine shows in Canada. The first stop was Toronto, for a two-weekend stint from November 14th to November 23rd. On November 21, Swift fans broke records for mobile data usage at Rogers Centre. Over 7.4TBs of data was used in a few short hours. This past weekend, Swift played at BC Place Stadium from December 6th to December 8th. It remains to be seen if Vancouver fans were as adamant about sharing moments during the live show.

This entire story could have been covered with just one sentence. Title, “Taylor Swift Ends Eras Tour in Vancouver, Grossing a Record Breaking $2 Billion”, then story, “and no reader of iPhoneInCanada cares”. Done!

Taylor Swift graciously honored our city to close out this historical tour. I am still overwhelmed and unable to process the event. The city was joyful and full of energy for the first time in a long time. Taylor gives us hope and an opportunity to share in her art. She continually gives without any pretense, just compassion and goodwill.
