Surprise! Public Mobile’s Canada-US-Mexico Plans are Sticking Around

Public mobile hero 2025.

Just when we thought Telus-owned Public Mobile was going to ditch its Canada-US-Mexico roaming plans introduced during Black Friday, they have now stuck around after the end of Boxing Day and into the New Year.

Promo end dates were set for January 6 for some promo plans, but for the most part, Canada-US-Mexico plans have remained.

Here are the 5G Canada-US-Mexico plans available as of January 8, 2025:

The $29/20GB and $35/75GB plans promos were axed, while the $29 and $35 plans lose their long distance minutes (250 and 500 minutes). Not that big of a deal if you don’t call overseas.

The following 4G plans remain, but their long distance minutes ranging from 100 to 200 were axed:

We still have yet to see Fido, Koodo or Virgin Plus add US or Mexico data roaming to their plans to align with Public Mobile and Freedom Mobile, who has been forcing the change on the ‘Big 3’. Will we see big things happen in 2025?

The lack of overseas roaming (can't receive 2fa text messages etc) is a deal breaker for me. Too bad…
