Fido Bites Back: Price Hikes in April for Select Customers

Rogers-owned Fido customers will soon see a price hike in their mobile plans, if you’re one of the lucky ones.

The company has announced it will increase monthly fees by $3 (plus tax) starting on or after April 8, 2025. Fido customers were notified in the mobile app, as shared by users on Reddit.

Fido says the price increase is to support ongoing investments in its network. The cost change will appear under “Monthly charges” on upcoming bills.

In response to customer concerns on Reddit, Fido stated, “To keep up with the growing demand for mobile data and to continue enhancing your experience on Canada’s largest and most reliable 5G network, we are making important investments in our network. As a result, some customers will see a change in their mobile plan rate.”

Comments ensued about how the recent Rogers acquisition of Bell’s stake in MLSE needs to be paid for by customers.

Another day, and another price increase. It seems the best bet nowadays is to stick to prepaid as you know prices won’t be going up versus postpaid plans. A few dollars per month jacks up the average revenue per user metrics, which are valuable to report during quarterly earnings.

You should check your Fido bill and let us know in the comments if you’re seeing price increases coming in April.

I got bit by Fido a few years back after I got a Black Friday special plan for 24 months only to be given a price hike after 13 months. I cancelled immediately, almost instantly netting me a winback offer that I didn't take because this is the way they do business. Now at Public Mobile for over a year and haven't had any issues, no price hikes, and my phone works in the US and Mexico as well which has been helpful on multiple occasions —> 75gb for $35 a month.

I just had an 8 cad price hike !!! That comes to 96 $ extra a year… it's quite a lot. I now pay 74.56 per month… I can see what number called me, I can hide my own, I have that answering service where the spoken message is "typed out"… and that is it.
