Freedom Mobile’s New 100GB Plan Slaps Rogers, Telus and Bell

Freedom mobile hero.

Freedom Mobile has revised its 5G Canada-US-Mexico plans, with some new additions.

Check out the Canada-US-Mexico 5G plans below:

  • $19/1GB
  • $29/6GB
  • $34/10GB + 1GB Roam Beyond
  • $35/60GB + 5GB Roam Beyond
  • $45/100GB + 15GB Roam Beyond (NEW; was 80GB)
  • $55/100GB + 25GB Roam Beyond
  • $59/100GB + 25GB Roam Beyond (for free Apple Watch Series 10)

The new $45/100GB plan includes 15GB Roam Beyond. Previously, this plan only had 80GB of data. Roam Beyond allows you to use your talk, text and data in over 100 countries worldwide.

Looking at plans from Rogers, Telus and Bell? Telus and Bell have a $49/100GB plan, but that doesn’t include US or Mexico roaming. Rogers has a $50/100GB plan, again only for use in Canada. Freedom Mobile’s plan undercuts the ‘Big 3’ big time, as it also includes US and Mexico roaming, plus Roam Beyond for international.

Earlier today, we highlighted some recent promos from Freedom Mobile, including the offer of a free Apple Watch Series 10 and also a BOGO iPhone 16e (which requires the $59/100GB plan).

Great but if I can't get coverage where I live (which freedom shows as covered), I'm sticking with public mobile( Telus towers I think). And also cheaper.

I think you missed the roaming part. Your roaming is free anywhere in Canada,Us or Mexico. As long as there's a tower, it will work. I love freedom

No, really you missed the coverage part. Freedom/shaw and the one they were before that, all say I am in a coverage area. I am not. When my daughter( the only one of 5 phones left of freedom) comes home , she does not have coverage. ( If no coverage , roaming then does not work). They kept lying for years saying , “we are putting in a tower for that area”. Not yet anyhow .

Is there coverage with the big 3? If so, your phone with Freedom will automaticlly switch to nationwide with no additional fees. I switched to Freedom 3 months ago from Rogers and am so glad I did! My plan is so much cheaper and I have service everywhere I did with Rogers!

While true, and I'm on freedom for it's roam beyond, the transition between Freeom and Rogers or Bell / Telus isn't very good…

Dropped calls, no service for a minute or so, then register. Not wondeful, but it is what it is.

Ya the transition is anything BUT seamless. Really bad experience if you live near the fringe edge of Freedom's coverage or if you travel out of it frequently. If you spend most of your time in a big city, you'll have no issues.

The new radio towers will introduce a network transition mechanism that ensures call persistence during roaming to home network switches, similar to Vo-WiFi/Vo-LTE handover procedures.

No coverage? That's ok cause roaming is free. My Freedom works everywhere from Vancouver Island to Ontario. Northern AB to the States. Never been charged a cent for roaming. If there's a tower, it works.

Fizz needs to get more love as you can hop on The Big 3 for coverage if you are in a Freedom dead zone.

If Fizz gets more competitive pricing and still offers the roaming of the other networks, the mobile industry could be in for a shock.
