Freedom Mobile Is Giving Away Phones: Yes, Even the Pixel 8a

Videotron’s Freedom Mobile has launched what it calls a ‘$0 phone event’, where customers can get a free device on a two-year term with no payment needed.
What’s the catch? You’ll need to be on a monthly plan priced for at least $34 to $49 per month, depending on the phone you choose. Here are the eligible phones:
- Moto g power 5G 128GB 2024 ($400 retail price); $39 plan required
- Samsung A16 128GB ($270 retail price); $49 plan required
- Moto g play 64GB 2024 ($150 retail price); $34 plan required
- Google Pixel 8a 128GB ($679 retail price still from Google); $49 plan required
As you can see, the best deal is the Pixel 8a as it’s worth the most. If you’re already on a $49 plan, getting a free Pixel 8a is not too shabby. That works out to $24 per month savings if you divide the retail cost over 24 months.
MyTab savings are showing as the retail price of these phones and the MyTab charge is $0 over 24 months. We know the new Pixel 9a will likely be coming soon. The Pixel 8a was released in Canada back in May 2024, so it’s still less than a year old. You could get the free phone, sell it on Marketplace and use those funds towards a new phone of your choice.
Anyone going to jump on a free phone from Freedom Mobile?
