Bell Launches Ahlo Smartphone Brand for $1/month [Update]

Bell has introduced a new budget smartphone brand called Ahlo, designed in Canada with a focus on essential features, strong performance, and an affordable price tag.
The Ahlo smartphone (runs Android 14) is now available for $270 outright or as low as $1/month on select plans through Bell, Virgin Plus, and major retailers including Best Buy Express, Staples, Visions Electronics, The Mobile Shop, WirelessWave, Tbooth wireless and the Wireless Kiosk at Costco.
Key specs of this budget Android smartphone include:
- 6.58-inch Full HD+ display
- 50MP triple-lens rear camera system
- 32MP front camera
- 5,000 mAh battery
- 5G support
- Fingerprint scanner
- Android 14 operating system
- 24-month warranty
We don’t know who makes the phone yet, nor CPU or RAM specs. We’ve reached out to Bell and will update this story accordingly.
“Ahlo is part of our effort to give Canadians more choice and better access to well-designed smartphones that focus on real user needs – without unnecessary extras or high price tags,” said a Bell spokesperson to iPhone in Canada in a statement on Thursday.
Now this is a super budget Android phone and may cater to those on a tight budget, but of course you’ll need a two-year plan for the $1/month price on financing. Now watch Rogers and Telus also do the same…right?
Update: A Bell spokesperson confirmed to iPhone in Canada the ahlo has a Qualcomm Snapdragon SM4450 chipset and has 4GB of RAM. Also, when we asked Bell what parts of the ahlo smartphone were Canadian-designed, Bell told us “all of it”.

Looks like this might be the specs…

'Designed in Canada' is right up there with 'Designed in Cupertino'. Pretty guaranteed the device isn't being built in a pristine factory somewhere in Canada, by folks being paid well over the minimum wage.
It would cost 10x then. Lol
The price of the phone isn't the main problem, the problem is the corrupt and CRTC coddled oligopolies (Bell, Rogers and Telus) who financially rape Canadians bank accounts with their astronomical prices for cellphone services and data. The fact that your paid for unused data doesn't roll over to the next month is nothing short of thievery. Their monthly prices are also theft. We live in a democracy yet open competition is not allowed. At the very least, Canadian seniors 60 and over should have their own phone provider that offers senior prices such as Consumer Cellular in the US.

This is for low income seniors. There is the Secret below cost plan. check out the cell plan too come with real free smart phone. enjoy.
God forbid you take your business elsewhere. The cellular plan market has evolved over the last 3 or 4 years so that's how late your comment is
Has anyone looked into $1/month plans? I don't see anything on their website.
It's $1/MTH to finance this beautiful PoS phone.
Not $1/MTH plans.
Ohhhh.. i misread it. Makes sense now. Definitely not worth it for this crappy phone
Canada should allow more competition from
American provides! AT&T, Verizon et.al., would make data plans in Canada much cheaper! But, the Canada Commies in Ottawa won’t allow ANY competition from our Yankee neighbours…!….?
I used to be with Bell then one day I woke up and discovered Chatr and I've been very satisfied ever since good plan for little money and the best thing no contract
