Rogers Repeats as Top 5G Mobile Network in Canada, Says Study
Rogers has been awarded top marks in the latest mobile network performance test conducted by umlaut, a subsidiary of Accenture, earning the title “Best in Test” among Canadian wireless providers, yet again.
In a nationwide study released this month, Rogers scored 912 out of 1,000, the highest total among major Canadian carriers, outperforming both Bell (878) and Telus (837). The testing evaluated voice, data, and reliability performance based on drive tests and crowdsourced data collected across 45 days in cities, towns, and roads from January to March 2025.
Here are some voice, data and crowdsourced scores for Rogers:
- Voice performance: Rogers scored 248 out of 270, with strong results across city, town, and road environments.
- Data performance: Rogers earned 436 out of 480, showing especially high results in urban areas.
- Crowdsourced network quality: Rogers matched competitors with a score of 228 out of 250.
- Reliability score: Rogers again led with 547 out of 600, driven by consistent user experience and strong voice and data reliability.
The report highlights Rogers’ edge in user experience across key metrics such as download and upload speed, stability, and coverage. Testing was conducted using Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra devices in 5G-preferred mode.
“As Canada’s largest and most reliable 5G network, we are always investing in our networks to bring the best experience to our customers,” said Mark Kennedy, Chief Technology Officer in a statement on Tuesday. “We are proud to be recognized by umlaut once again as the most reliable wireless network in the country.”
Cities included in the study ranged from Toronto and Vancouver to Halifax and Edmonton, with coverage spanning over 795,000 square kilometres and accounting for 61% of the Canadian population.
Rogers won the same ‘Best in Test’ last year, with its score rising 18 points this year, while Bell saw its score drop 7 points and Telus fell 19 points. This marks the seventh year in a row Rogers has come on top from this study. Back in 2021, the ‘Best in Test’ study by umlaut was commissioned by Rogers, but further studies were not.

I reluctantly switched from Koodo to Rogers a few months ago. Honestly, it was a good move. The service, at least in my area of Vancouver, is significantly more consistent than Koodo (I only use LTE). I know that’s not necessarily a fair comparison (large carrier vs discount carrier) but it was a good move for me.
