Want 2Gbps on Telus 5G? You’ll Need Their Most Expensive Plan [Update]
Telus continues to tweak its wireless plans page, this time changing which plans get the fastest 5G+ download speeds, now again showing as up to 2Gbps.
Just last week, the following plans from Telus had 5G+ download speeds only up to 1Gbps. But today, Telus updated this to show up to 2Gbps speeds for its most expensive plan, the $85/275GB Canada-US-Mexico offering for new customers:
- $60/125GB (1Gbps)
- $70/200GB Canada-US (1Gbps)
- $85/275GB Canada-US-Mexico (2Gbps)
Looking back to last July and also back to 2023, Telus was showing up to 2Gbps download speeds for all 5G plans. At some point, this was halved to 1Gbps, and now we’re back to 2Gbps, but only if you fork out for the high-end $85 plan.
For now, all Telus plans have a 25GB data bonus included, part of the company’s 25th birthday celebrations. We’ve reached out to Telus for comment and will update this story accordingly.
What are the max download speeds of your 5G plan from Telus?
Update May 27, 2025: A Telus spokesperson sent the following statement to iPhone in Canada regarding the 2Gbps plan:
As part of our 25th Anniversary Sale, we’re celebrating with 25GB of bonus data on select 5G+ plans. We’ve introduced an $85 plan with speeds up to 2Gbps, which was previously priced at $90. With the bonus data included, customers now get 275GB for $85, offering even more value and superior connectivity. This plan continues to include roaming in the U.S. & Mexico, 24 months of complimentary TELUS Online Security Complete, and $0 data sharing on your first connected device when you finance on a 2-year term.

I have 5g+ with Telus in Kamloops the only location I receive the 5g+ signal is at the junction of Battle St and Hwy 5. Telus map shows 5g+ in most of Kamloops WRONG. It is 5g and 4g service only and very slow data transfer with only 1 or 2 bars maybe 3 if lucky. No such signal in Aberdeen area in Kamloops cells are pointed towards the city core and not towards Aberdeen area that is behind the tower. So the 5g+ must be for larger cities Toronto Vancouver etc. You would think with the Multi Million $ Telus Data Centre on Bunker Rd in Kamloops that we would be getting the latest and greatest. There are a few of us on the 5g+ plan in Kamloops we are not getting what we are paying for. Hopefully Telus wakes up and realize the cells have to be updated to 5g+ before bragging about having 5g+. Or at least post not available in a certain area. Telus map of 5g+ is totally wrong in the Kamoops area.
My thoughts and opinions.
I can't even get 2Mbps upload on my Telus 5G+.
I'm going back to Vidéotron as soon as my contract ends.
