iPhone 17 to Debut Dynamic Island Changes: Report

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup could debut a redesigned Dynamic Island, according to a new report from Digital Chat Station on Weibo (via MacRumors).

The leaker, known for accurate Apple-related predictions in the past, claims that the iPhone 17 series will feature a revamped user interface for the Dynamic Island. This suggests changes that are likely to be on the software side.

While no specific details were shared, the report hints that iOS 26 could introduce a new Dynamic Island experience, potentially exclusive to the iPhone 17 lineup. If true, this would mark the first major update to the Dynamic Island since its introduction with the iPhone 14 Pro models in 2022.

Rumours surrounding hardware changes to the Dynamic Island have been more conflicting. Earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro Max might feature a smaller display cutout compared to previous models, but more recent leaks indicate that such a physical redesign may not arrive until the iPhone 18 Pro series in 2026. However, there is still some speculation that all iPhone 17 models could see slight tweaks to the cutout this year.

The iPhone 17 lineup has already been rumoured to bring some of the most significant design updates in recent years, particularly for the Pro models. Recent leaks have pointed to sleeker frames, redesigned camera bumps, and even an all-new “iPhone 17 Air” model focused on thinness. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, in particular, is expected to boast the biggest battery ever seen in an iPhone — around 5,000mAh — promising even longer battery life.

Apple is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in early September, meaning we’re just about two months away from learning more about what changes are coming. Stay tuned for more iPhone 17 leaks and news as we inch closer to the September launch.
