Koodo Brings Back 5G—Here’s What’s New (and What’s Not)

koodo 5g plans

Telus-owned Koodo just can’t make up its mind it seems when it comes to 5G plans.

Back in May 2023, Telus-owned Public Mobile launched 5G plans before its own flanker brand Koodo. Telus said at the time Koodo would not be getting 5G plans, but that quickly changed three months later, as it matched rivals Virgin and Freedom which launched 5G at the time.

One year later in May 2024, Koodo dropped 5G plans from its website. But existing users still had 5G access.

Now fast forward to July 2025, Koodo has once again brought back 5G plans. “More happy. More speed. Meet the new 5G plans,” says the Koodo website.

Check out Koodo’s 5G plans below as of July 24, 2025, after a $10 bank auto-pay discount:

  • $40/10GB
  • $45/40GB
  • $50/60GB
  • $75/100GB

Compared to previous pricing, we are seeing a new $40/10GB plan, while the 100GB plan has increased by $15 (was $60), which is a big jump.

In comparison, here’s what Fido and Virgin Mobile’s plans are as of today:

Fido

  • $40/10GB + 500 Int’l texts
  • $45/40GB + 500 Int’l texts
  • $50/60GB + 1000 Int’l texts

Virgin

  • $40/10GB (was $36)
  • $45/40GB (was 60GB)
  • $50/60GB (was $55/80GB)

Magically, we are seeing Koodo, Fido and Virgin all have the same matching three plans to start, with Koodo adding in a more pricey $75/100GB plan.

It will be interesting to see what back to school promos and Black Friday plans will be.
