Bell’s 250GB Global Roaming Plan Expands Nationwide After Quebec Launch

Last month Bell launched a global roaming plan to follow the footsteps of Telus and Rogers.

The 250GB global roaming plan launched in Quebec only to take on Videotron and cost $70 per month, with roaming available for talk, text and data across 78 countries and territories. But as of September 9 (iPhone 17 launch day), Bell has now made this plan available outside of Quebec for the first time.

Here’s are Bell’s plans as of today:

  • $70/100GB
  • $80/175GB Canada and USA
  • $95/250GB Global (74 destinations)

Telus

  • $70/100GB
  • $80/175GB Canada-US
  • $95/250GB Global (68 destinations)

Rogers

  • $70/100GB
  • $80/175GB Canada-US
  • $100/250GB Canada-US-Mexico

Only Rogers does not offer its global roaming plan outside of Quebec, while its plan is also $5 more. You can bet that will change shortly.

Bell says to qualify, you must be a Canadian resident and keep most of your usage within Canada. While roaming in the listed countries, data use may be capped at 10 GB per billing cycle.

The plan includes texting to and from local numbers in these countries but excludes premium texts. Calls to numbers outside the listed countries are not included and will be charged at $1.45/minute. Roaming outside of the listed countries is not part of the plan.

Picture and video messages, as well as Push-to-Talk services, will use data from your regular rate plan while abroad.

Covered countries include: Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bonaire, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sint Maarten, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United States (including Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands), Vatican City, Vietnam, Saba, St. Barts, St. Eustatius, and St. Martin.

Earlier today, Bell also added a new option to extend device payments, allowing customers to pay off remaining device return options for yet another 12 months after a 2-year term, at 0% interest.

What's the point of this plan if they limit your data usage to 10GB's while roaming…?

It does seem low, especially as it is per billing cycle, not per day.

On the other hand I rarely use that much data while travelling, since most of my data consumption is over hotel WiFi – but clearly YMMV.
