Apple Discontinues iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max as iPhone 17 Nears Launch

As is tradition, Apple is discontinuing a lineup of its products, making way for new devices announced this week, including iPhone 17.

During its ‘Awe-dropping’ keynote, Apple announced the iPhone 17 series, iPhone Air, AirPods Pro 3 and new Apple Watch models. These devices are making their way to the market, starting Friday, September 19. With a catalogue of new devices on the way, Apple has removed many older models from its website.

Taking a look at the Canadian site, Apple prominently lists all aforementioned devices with preorder information. However, for devices from last year, Apple merely lists the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16e, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max.

Here is a full list of devices now discontinued by Apple:

  • AirPods Pro 2
  • Apple Watch SE 2
  • Apple Watch Series 10
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

These devices will still receive new software updates for the foreseeable future. However, they are one step closer to being classified as ‘vintage’ by Apple. Afterwards, it’s unlikely that you’ll find these products on the market and then down the road, Apple will consider them ‘obsolete’, ending repairs and parts support if they end up broken.

By no means does that mean that these devices won’t be available elsewhere. In many cases, Canadian carriers still have stock for last year’s iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Other retailers may still have stock of the AirPods Pro 2 or Apple Watch Series 10. It’s quite common that these devices will be made available at sizeable discounts if you know where to look.

I hate when they do this! As an owner of a 16 pro it makes me feel I don’t matter to apple anymore.

Apple has been discontinuing the Max each year for decades despite it being their "best" seller.
Don't be delulu to think Apple or Agent Orange down south, Bezos, Zuck, and Musk never cared about you,
