Telus Says PureFibre Internet Coming to Sylvan Lake

Most homes and businesses in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, will soon have access to Telus PureFibre internet, following a $40 million investment by F3 Networks.

The project, expected to take two years, will connect about 95% of the community with fibre-to-the-premise service. Construction is set to begin in the coming weeks, with over 150,000 metres of fibre planned.

Sylvan Lake is located about 25 minutes west of Red Deer. Back in May Telus announced PureFibre coming to Red Deer and this looks to be part of an ongoing expansion in Alberta.

F3 Networks owns the new network, while AFL has been contracted to handle the build. Telus will provide services such as internet, Optik TV, and smart home products once connections are in place.

“We’re incredibly proud to work alongside F3 Networks, AFL and the Town of Sylvan Lake to bring TELUS PureFibre services to the community,” said Shazia Zeb Sobani, Vice-president Customer Solutions Delivery West at Telus, in a statement on Thursday. “This collaborative effort is about more than building infrastructure, it’s about empowering residents and businesses with the tools they need to thrive in today’s digital world.”

Once completed, the network will make Sylvan Lake one of the latest Alberta communities to gain full fibre connectivity, joining more than 120,000 rural homes already connected to Telus PureFibre.
