Kojima Productions Announces Death Stranding Animated Series for Disney+

Kojima Productions announced that a Death Stranding animated series is in production for Disney+. Studio head Hideo Kojima revealed Death Stranding Isolations (working title) will arrive on the streaming service in 2027.
During the Disney+ Originals Preview at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Kojima surprised attendees with the announcement of Death Stranding Isolations. The animated series will be an original story, spinning off from the core story of the Death Stranding series.
Kojima has confirmed that it exists within the same canon as 2019’s Death Stranding and this year’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In a blog post, it’s said that Death Stranding Isolations will “tell a completely new story, separate from that of the video games.” Working with animation talent at E&H production, the series will tell the story of a young man and a woman “as they set out on an adventure.”
Here’s a small synopsis:
Somewhere in North America, just as Sam Bridges walks through the continent in order to save America, the someones are also trying to deal with their isolation in their own way. An old man trying to realize salvation through ways outside of the connection advocated by Bridges. A female warrior who tries to kickstart a world of constant fighting. A boy with a grudge against Bridges. A girl who embraces loneliness.
The series is being made in collaboration with Kojima as well as Takayuki Sano, who serves as series director. Sano is best known for working on Attack on Titan and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. The concept art for Death Stranding Isolations has been created by Ilya Kuvshinov, who served as character designer for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. The series will feature a traditional hand-drawn 2D animation style.
Death Stranding Isolations has been announced a couple of years after the 2023 documentary, Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds debuted on Disney+, offering a look at the creation process of Death Stranding and Kojima’s life.
