Bell Expands Its Wi-Fi 7 Giga Hub 2.0 Modem to More Regions: Who Gets It Now

Bell told iPhone in Canada today that its new Giga Hub 2.0 modem, which supports Wi-Fi 7, is now available across Ontario and Quebec following its earlier limited launch.

The hardware brings Wi-Fi 7 to Bell Pure Fibre customers and is meant to deliver faster speeds, lower latency, and better performance for homes with many connected devices.

The modem is now offered to customers across Ontario and Quebec, joining the original launch areas of Toronto and the GTA, Ottawa, London, Windsor, Kitchener, Guelph, Barrie, Collingwood and Bradford, along with Quebec City and nearby regions.

Bell says Wi-Fi 7 can deliver speeds up to four times faster than Wi-Fi 6E and can handle more devices at once, though users will still need Wi-Fi 7-compatible hardware to benefit.

The Giga Hub 2.0 includes an OLED screen for quick tasks like speed tests and sharing Wi-Fi passwords, along with backlit buttons, raised symbols, and colour-coded ports. It has one 10Gb Ethernet port, two 2.5Gb ports, and two 1Gb ports for wired connections.

Bell’s Pure Fibre plans start at $70 per month (no contract) for Fibe 50, and the modem is included. Existing customers with eligible addresses can upgrade to the Giga Hub 2.0 for $7 a month or a one-time fee of $199.95. Those moving to Gigabit Fibe 3.0 or higher will get the modem at no extra cost.

Other Canadian carriers beat Bell to Wi-Fi 7 earlier this year, with Rogers launching its hardware on July 1 and Telus following at the end of July. Bell now joins both rivals with its wider rollout this fall.

I just checked my account and looks like those who are already on the Fibe 3.0 plan also have to pay $7/month or their one-time $200 price. Doesn't make any sense to me.
