Fido Calls This an ‘Exclusive Deal’ and It Costs $120 a Month

Rogers-owned Fido is facing some mockery online after a customer shared a text message pitching an “exclusive deal” that looks more like a bad joke.

The message offered 70GB of data at 4G speeds for $120 a month after autopay discounts, plus a potential $20 fee just to change the plan. Fido framed the offer as a limited-time, special opportunity—a claim that backfired instantly given the high price and dated network speeds, according to Reddit.

The Reddit user who shared the text explained they were already frustrated with Fido’s recent holiday promos. They admitted that renewing their contract without looking at competitors was a mistake.

“Calling a $120 plan an exclusive deal is insane,” the user noted, adding that they’ve watched pricing and service quality move in the wrong direction all year. They now plan to cancel before their next renewal.

Right now, the Fido website only offers up to 60GB, priced at $55 per month. To pay $65 more per month to get 70GB? Surely this must “deal” must have been an error to be sent out like this.

Other users didn’t hold back, mocking the idea that a triple-digit monthly bill for 4G data qualifies as a “deal.” One commenter joked that Rogers and Fido seem to jack up prices, slap on a label, and act surprised when people quit. Another pointed out that the plan only makes sense if a customer is already paying even more; otherwise, it is “a complete ripoff.”

The thread quickly turned into a recommendation list for cheaper alternatives. Many users mentioned switching to carriers like Fizz, pointing to features like data rollover and significantly lower monthly costs. While some debated rural coverage, others noted that smaller players often roam on the big networks anyway, making the $120 Fido price tag even harder to justify.

To claim a $120/month plan is an “exclusive deal” in 2026 basically tells you the state of our telecom players. If you actually try to look for a deal, you can get cheaper options from the likes of Public Mobile, Fizz and more.

Because big 3 sell data we don't need? Many people don't need such data and would be perfectly fine with ~20-30GB per month for $30 or less.

Exactly this.. I barely use 10gb of data a month on my phone.. 120gigs is overkill…
