GTA 6 on track for November 2026: Take-Two CEO shares new launch update
During its Q3 fiscal 2026 earnings call on February 3, Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. The game will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with the company confirming that both digital and physical copies will be available on day one.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed online rumours that have spread about the possibility of Rockstar delaying the release of physical copies of “GTA 6” until 2027, in order to avoid leaks of the game, which will debut in November (insert memes about the GTA 6 release here).
“That’s not the plan,” the Take-Two chief said, according to a report from Variety. Zelnick expressed high confidence in the current timeline, noting that the company is nearing its next major phase of development.
Take-Two announced that the official marketing phase for GTA VI is set to begin this summer, which is expected to include new trailers and events. The highly anticipated sequel returns players to a Vice City-inspired setting and follows the massive success of its predecessor.
In its Tuesday earnings, Take-Two announced that “GTA 6’s” more-than-decade-old predecessor, “GTA 5,” has now crossed 225 million copies sold to date, which is huge.
The company says the launch could be a major turning point for the industry and is predicting a record-setting fiscal year. After years of delays, demand for GTA 6 has been building, and that long wait is finally expected to pay off.
