No Console Required: Rogers Xfinity Customers Get Major Amazon Gaming Boost

Rogers has added Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service to its Xfinity TV platform, letting customers play games directly on their television without needing a console or downloads.
The Luna app is now available to all Rogers Xfinity customers, after rolling out to some devices late last year. The service allows users to stream games over the internet in the same way they stream movies or TV shows.
Rogers customers who already have an Amazon Prime membership, a Ubisoft+ subscription, or a Luna Premium subscription can access Luna’s game library through their Xfinity device. Titles include Fortnite, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and family-friendly games like Angry Birds and Clue.
To start playing, users open the Luna app on their Xfinity box, sign in with their Amazon account, and use a Bluetooth controller or a smartphone as a controller. Games run in the cloud, so there’s no need for a console, physical discs, or local game downloads.
In addition to Rogers Xfinity, Amazon Luna is available on a wide range of platforms (it got revamped last fall), including Windows PCs, MacBooks, Chromebooks, Fire TV and Fire Tablet devices, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, and mobile devices (iOS and Android).
Basically, Luna means gaming now sits alongside live TV, sports, and streaming apps within the Xfinity interface, powered by voice commands, according to Rogers on Friday.

If only they would add the app to Apple TV
Too many games require pairing your cell phone to the specific game app and generally to Luna TV. I’m giving this a hard pass.
