Freedom Mobile Confirms Data Breach: Customer Info Leaked in January

Freedom Mobile is notifying customers of a privacy breach after an investigation revealed unauthorized access to its account management system.

The company began reaching out to those affected via email and text today, March 18, 2026. If you did not receive a direct message today, your account was not part of this incident.

The breach occurred between January 12 and 18, 2026, when a third party (hacker) used a subcontractor’s credentials to enter the system. While the company says it has since disabled the compromised account and updated its security controls, several pieces of sensitive data were exposed.

“Our investigation determined that a third party used the credentials of a subcontractor to gain access to the personal information of some of our customers,” explained Freedom Mobile.

The following personal information was accessed:

  • First and last names
  • Home and email addresses
  • Dates of birth and phone numbers
  • Freedom Mobile account numbers

The company confirmed that passwords and payment information were not affected. While Freedom says there is currently no evidence that the stolen data has been misused, they are advising customers to stay alert for phishing attempts.

Affected users are encouraged to monitor their accounts for suspicious activity and to be wary of unexpected texts or emails asking for PINs or credit card details. Freedom Mobile noted it will never ask for such information through SMS or email.

This is not the first time a breach like this has happened for Freedom Mobile. Back in December, it posted about a similar data breach, which leaked similar customer info.

Did you get a notification from Freedom Mobile about this data breach of your personal info?
