Sportsnet+ Prices Just Went Up in Canada Ahead of the NHL Season

Rogers has raised Sportsnet+ subscription prices across Canada, with the new rates taking effect on the first billing cycle on or after Tuesday, September 22.

Sportsnet+ Premium now costs $44.99 CAD per month or $344.99 CAD per year, up from $42.99 CAD and $324.99 CAD. Standard has jumped to $34.99 CAD per month or $269.99 CAD per year, up from $29.99 CAD and $249.99 CAD.

Rogers announced the increases back in July, with the higher prices now landing just as the NHL preseason gets underway.

The increases also arrive as Rogers begins its new 12-year, $11 billion NHL broadcast agreement for the 2026-27 season, bringing some major changes to how Canadians watch hockey. After CBC and Rogers ended their Hockey Night in Canada sublicensing agreement in June, Sportsnet replaced the long-running Saturday brand with Saturday Night Hockey.

Monday nights are changing too. Monday Night Hockey is now exclusive to Sportsnet+, meaning fans who get Sportsnet through a traditional TV package need a $12.99 CAD per month add-on to watch those games unless they subscribe to Sportsnet+ directly.

Rogers TV Plus and Ultimate customers get an exception, with Monday games included at no extra cost starting September 29 through three new digital channels, with no action required.

Sportsnet has also lifted 150 regional blackouts and added more games for the 2026-27 season, giving subscribers access to more hockey without running into local restrictions.

Rogers has also moved some rights elsewhere, with its exclusive Wednesday night NHL games shifting to Prime Video as the new broadcast deal gets underway.

For hockey fans, the cost and complexity of following the full NHL schedule continues to climb. Sportsnet+ now costs more, some Monday games require an extra subscription for traditional TV customers, and parts of the schedule are spread across different services.

With the NHL season approaching, Tuesday’s Sportsnet+ price hike means Canadian fans are now paying more just as Rogers rolls out its new era of hockey coverage.
