Siri AI Now Speaks French on iPhone, and Four More Languages Are Next

Apple announced on Monday that Siri AI now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, expanding the new version of Siri beyond English with today’s 27.2 software updates. For Canadians who use their iPhone in French, this is the change that matters most.
The release simply lists “French” as a supported language. It does not name French (Canada) or any Canadian province, and the Canadian version of the announcement has no Canada-specific note either. The company adds that “some features may not be available in all regions or languages.”
Siri AI is available in beta in iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2. It requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language, and the full list now covers English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. We covered the iOS 27.2 release candidate last week.
Apple calls Siri AI a “completely reimagined version of Siri” built on Apple Intelligence. It draws on personal context from your messages, emails and photos, can answer questions or take action based on what is on your screen, and taps broad world knowledge for up-to-date answers. Apple’s examples include drafting an email from scratch or editing and sharing a set of photos.
More languages are on the way. Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese support for Siri AI is coming by the end of the year.
Apple Intelligence itself works with Siri and device language set to Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish or Vietnamese.
Some limits remain in place. Siri AI is still unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and it is not available to users under 13, restrictions that echo what Apple laid out when it first detailed the Siri AI rollout in June.
Daily usage limits also apply to Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, Image Playground and intelligent photo editing tools. Apple says limits can vary based on request complexity and system demand, and that “expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future.” No pricing was shared.
