Apple’s New MacBook Pro Gets OLED and Touch, Here’s Canadian Pricing

Apple has unveiled a redesigned MacBook Pro with a tandem OLED display it calls PROLED XDR, and for the first time on a Mac, a touchscreen.
In Canada, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $3,999 CAD. That’s just under the $4,000-plus starting price we expected for the touch model.
Pre-orders are open now, and the new MacBook Pro arrives in stores and to customers on Friday, November 6.
PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Mac
The new display hits up to 2000 nits of peak brightness for both HDR and SDR content, with a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. ProMotion now ranges from 10Hz to 120Hz.
It covers the P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces and more than 80 per cent of Rec. 2020. A nano-texture option is also available, and this time it’s etched right into the cover glass.
Touch on Mac uses a sensor built into the display panel. Apple redesigned the hinge so the screen stays steady when you tap it, and it stabilizes video on calls too.
Apps like Notion, Canva, Zoom, Microsoft Office, Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve, Blender, Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Shapr3D and djay Pro already support touch.
The Mac also gets a Dynamic Island for the first time. It shows Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI, which now speaks French in Canada.
“This is a monumental step forward for the Mac,” said Johny Srouji, Apple’s chief hardware officer, who called PROLED XDR “the world’s best laptop display.”

Thinner, Lighter and Faster
The 14-inch model starts at 1.38 kg, about half a pound lighter than before, and is half a millimetre thinner. The 16-inch model drops 0.7 pounds and is nearly a millimetre thinner, while its display grows to 16.3 inches. The smaller model keeps a 14.2-inch screen.
Inside are M5 Pro and M5 Max chips with a redesigned thermal system, up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 16TB of storage. Apple rates battery life at up to 24 hours.
There are also six speakers with 50 per cent deeper bass, Thunderbolt 5, a 12MP Center Stage camera and macOS 27. Colour options are space black and silver.
