BMO iOS Update Says Apple Pay Coming Soon for Debit, Credit Cards

RBC and CIBC customers have been enjoying Apple Pay with their Visa, MasterCard and debit cards, but soon other banks such as TD, Scotiabank and BMO will join in on the fun next month.

BMO updated their iPhone app today to note “Coming Soon: Apple Pay for your BMO Debit and Credit Cards,” a sign we’re getting closer to the official launch from the bank.

We’re hearing from you Apple Pay will launch on BMO on June 1, according to what MasterCard reps have informed customers. As for BMO branches, sources note employees received job documentation and FAQs for Apple Pay recently, saying the service would be launching “in the coming month”.

BMO branches have also received stock of Apple Pay compatible MasterCard debit cards, which were apparently set to be released to customers today, but was delayed.

Regardless of the launch time frame, June is just around the corner, so it shouldn’t be long until everyone gets to experience Apple Pay and the true potential of an iPhone 6 or newer and Apple Watch.

While you’re waiting for the launch, prepare yourself by reading our FAQ and learning these tips on how to checkout faster with Apple Pay.

These banks underestimated the power of Apple Pay, definitely.

“Within the coming month”. May 10th.

How many weeks are in a BMO month? Just wonder if they mean a normal month, so by June 10 or a special BMO month, so maybe by June 30…

How are they going to achieve Apple Pay support for their debit cards ? BMO is not participating in Interac Flash

i was thinking that td canadatrust was the most progressive bank in canada. but alas, the bank is showing that it is not. i was with canada trust when td gobbled them up and at that point, canada trust was the best “bank” around. td showed that they were light years behind at that point as well.
they should be ashamed of their lack of insight into the needs of the customer in canada.

I was thinking the same as PlayerX… my BMO card is not with Interac Flash…. Maybe it’s why BMO wasn’t part of the first launch with CIBC and RBC.

When I read this: “BMO branches have also received stock of Apple Pay compatible MasterCard debit cards, which were apparently set to be released to customers today, but was delayed.”
What do we have to do then to get ready???
