Three weeks after the initial announcement, the Dropbox and Microsoft integrations have landed on iOS and Android apps. As promised, the latest version of the Dropbox and Microsoft Office apps allow users to seamlessly edit their documents and automatically sync them across devices.
Starting today, users can store and edit Office files right from the Dropbox app, as they will be greeted by a new edit button allowing them to open the file directly in the appropriate MS Office app.
When the editing process is finished, users can save the file back to their Dropbox account. The catch is, you must have the latest version of both the Dropbox and Office apps on your iPhone or iPad.
It’s important to mention, though, that in order to edit files within a Dropbox for Business account, you need one of the following Office 365 accounts: Business, Business Premium, ProPlus, E3, or E4.
The new feature is available today for both iOS and Android, although Dropbox warns users that they are slowly rolling out this feature on both platforms. In case you don’t see this feature right away, don’t worry, it will arrive shortly on your device as well. The reason for the slow rollout is to guarantee the best user experience, they say.
