Rovio Announces John Cohen to Produce Angry Birds Movie

The third anniversary of the release of Angry Birds comes with some juicy updates: an Angry Birds movie announced for 2016, and Angry Birds 3.0 in the App Store, a free update for those who had already paid for the original 99-cent game.

Angry Birds

To celebrate the three years of Angry Birds, Rovio Entertainment announced today that it will produce and finance an Angry Birds feature film, which is scheduled to hit theaters in summer 2016. The company attracted Despicable Me producer John Cohen, and David Maisel, former Chairman of Marvel Studios, as an executive producer. So, we can place our expectations high.

“John’s an exceptionally talented producer, and we’re delighted to have him join the flock,” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Entertainment. “With John’s hands-on producer background and David´s expertise in establishing and running his own successful studio, these two are the dream team for making a movie outside the studio system. Both professionals have the ideal skills and vision to achieve incredible things.”

Angry Birds 3.0, the most recent update of the popular bird game, brings new characters, new levels and, obviously, new challenges.
