Rogers today announced in a press release iPhone 12 is also coming to Fido, with pre-orders set for Friday, October 16, 2020, the same timeframe as Apple. We told you previously Rogers will also have its own iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro pre-orders starting tomorrow.
“As the first carrier to bring iPhone to Canada over ten years ago, we’re excited to roll out 5G to more communities large and small so that Canadians can use their new iPhone 12 models on the network they deserve,” said Brent Johnston, President, Wireless, Rogers Communications, in a statement.
Fido’s website doesn’t indicate iPhone 12 pricing yet, but customers can pre-register for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
Rogers took a jab at its rivals by saying it “offers 10x more 5G coverage than any other carrier.” The company added it “continues to collaborate with Apple, and has worked hard to ensure Canadians get the experience they deserve when using their iPhone on the Rogers 5G network, the largest in Canada.”
It’s worth noting iPhone 12 models sold in Canada won’t support mmWave 5G. While iPhone 12 will be supported on 5G networks in Canada, don’t expect multiple gigabit download speeds as shown in Apple’s product demos.
