Apple’s Upcoming 6.5-inch iPhone Reportedly Named ‘iPhone XS Max’ [u]

After leaking images of Apple’s upcoming ‘iPhone XS’ models in shiny gold and Apple Watch Series 4, 9to5Mac now reports it has learned what could be the name of the upcoming 6.5-inch OLED flagship: iPhone XS Max.

As per Zac Hall writing for 9to5Mac:

We’ve since learned that Apple has considered the name “iPhone Xs Max” for the larger 6.5-inch version, according to two sources familiar with Apple’s marketing plans.

The name iPhone XS Max just sounds odd, almost something the company is putting out there in an attempt to catch leakers. It would make sense for Apple to unify its iPad naming scheme with iPhone, finally bring over the ‘Pro’ moniker for higher-end OLED models, while just use iPhone for the new 6.1-inch LCD model.

We’ll find out on September 12th when Apple shares more at its special event, which will be live-streamed online again.

What do you think Apple will name its new iPhones?

Update Sept. 5, 11:51 AM PDT: BGR reports they are also hearing the name ‘iPhone XS Max’:

We have heard from two sources that Apple will use an entirely new name for its 6.5-inch OLED model: iPhone XS Max.
