Is Disney+ Password Sharing Allowed from My Account?

Disney+ launched yesterday and already has over 10 million subscribers, even despite the hiccups experienced along the way.

The service allows one account to have four live streams at the same time and also seven profiles. So with this in mind—are you allowed to share your Disney+ account password and login information with family?

According to Michael Paull, president of Disney Streaming Services, he said at a media preview event last week, “Password sharing is definitely something we think about,” reports The Verge.

Paull added, “We believe that consumers will see that value, and they’re going to act accordingly,” continuing to say, “They’re going to use those accounts for their family, for their household. That being said, we do recognize password sharing exists and will continue to exist.”

While it sounds like password sharing is okay for now, he executive warned, “And when we see behavior that doesn’t make sense, we have mechanisms that we’ve put in place that will deal with it.”

So essentially, sharing your password is okay–for now. If Disney sees devices in the same household using your password, it’s probably going to fine. But if devices throughout the globe are using your login, that will definitely raise a red flag.

Disney CEO Bob Iger echoed similar thoughts last week, ahead of the company’s Q4 earnings call, speaking to CNBC.

When asked, “What is going to be your approach to piracy and password sharing?”, Iger responded:

Well I think it will be similar to what others are doing. It’s obviously something we’ll be mindful of. We’re setting up a service that is very family friendly, we expect families to be able to consume it. You have four live streams at a time, for instance. We’ll watch it carefully with the various tools—technology tools—that we have available to us, but it’s obviously something that we have to watch.
