During its 2022 I/O developer conference today, Google announced the new Pixel Buds Pro, the company’s highest-end wireless audio offering yet.

These premium wireless earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation bring you full, immersive sound — now that’s music to our ears. Pixel Bud Pros are built to work great across our full Pixel portfolio and with other Android phones, and they’re packed with all the helpfulness and smarts you expect from Google.

The Pixel Buds Pro boast Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), coupled with a Transparency Mode for when you need to let in ambient noise. Google has fitted its latest wireless earbuds with custom speakers, along with a custom 6-core audio chip running Google-developed algorithms to power ANC.

The tech giant also touted its new “Silent Seal” technology, which helps the Pixel Buds Pro adapt to the unique shape of your ear and maximize sound isolation. The Pixel Buds Pro also have built-in sensors to measure the pressure in your ear canal and make adjustments accordingly to improve comfort during long listening sessions.

The earbuds themselves carry an IPX4 water resistance rating, while the charging case is rated for IPX2 water resistance.

Google has equipped the Pixel Buds Pro with Volume EQ for consistently balanced sound across the entire volume range. The company also said that spatial audio support for the Pixel Buds Pro will roll out later this year.

The earbuds feature Multipoint connectivity, a feature Google announced back in January that will allow them to automatically switch between previously paired Bluetooth devices — including laptops, tablets, TVs, and Android and iOS phones — as needed, much like Apple’s AirPods.

The Pixel Buds Pro will supposedly last up to 11 hours of listening time with ANC off, and up to 7 hours with ANC on. The case also supports wireless charging.

Google’s Pixel Buds Pro will be available to pre-order starting July 21 for $259 CAD ($199 USD) — that’s only a $20 premium over the original Pixel Buds, which launched for $239 in July 2020.

The earbuds will come in four colourways with a soft matte finish and a two-tone design: Coral, Lemongrass, Fog, and Charcoal.
