Leaked Documents Suggest Three New iPhones For 2017, One Codenamed ‘Ferrari’

Looks like 2017 is truly going to be a special year for Apple’s iPhone. Reports say that Apple will release an iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus, and a special model codenamed “Ferrari,” all in 2017.

According to a report from AppleInsider, a Chinese social media user known for leaking information from Apple’s East Asian supply chain, has published manufacturing documents from Apple which appear to confirm the rumors that the company will launch three iPhones in 2017. The documents suggest “S” models of both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and a redesigned, top-tier model internally codenamed “Ferrari.”

The smartphone with the new codename is rumored to be a high-end version stuffed with exotic technology and is expected to come packed with a glass sandwich design, a borderless OLED display, invisible home button, wireless charging option and more.

Rumors claim that Ferrari will sport a large AMOLED panel allowing the users to have an edge-to-edge experience. It will also come with a substantial internal redesign, which will possibly divide the logic board into two discrete units connected by a flex cable, the report suggests.

Though the leaked schematics and documents seem legitimate, there is no way that we can confirm its authenticity. However, that doesn’t rule down the possibility that Apple might be working on something special for the iPhone’s 10th anniversary in 2017.

These “leaks” (I’m willing to wager) are generated by Apple in order to increase the “hype” surrounding their next release. I mean.. if it wasn’t, how could these “leaks” (if that’s what they really are) continue to happen when I’m sure there are very few people with access to this information. Fact is that this new model will only cost a 10% premium to manufacture but Apple will surely take us to the $2,000 plateau before anyone else does.

Further dividing the iPhone line and separating features among different models seems like a terrible idea.
