iPhone Restore Frozen Near End in iTunes? Fix By Uninstalling Wi-Fi Sync

The iPhone Dev Team has released their jailbreak tools for iOS 4.3.1, thanks to i0n1c. You can use PwnageTool (or sn0wbreeze from iH8sn0w) or redsn0w to perform your jailbreak.

During the restore process in iTunes, I previously had issues with a frozen restore state. My iPhone would restore to just near the end (about 95% along the progress bar) then freeze. I would wait and wait but nothing and it would never complete.

It turns out the culprit is Wi-Fi Sync. Uninstall it on your Mac/PC, and then try your restore again. I totally forgot I had it installed, but removing it will fix this issue.

Download the Mac uninstaller here.

Let me know if you’ve ever run into this issue!

ok so this bug got me thinking about my backup problem i mentioned above. the problem i was having was simple, for some reason a program disabled my device backups. if your having a similar problem, you just need to set the boolean variable, devicebackupsdisabled to false. do so by closing itunes, open command prompt and paste this text, then hit enter. “defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool false”. reopen itunes and backup away.

And to keep your iPhone/iPad working well, never reinstall wifi sync (or never install it in the first place). It’s a broken program by a lazy and unskilled developer who will take your money and run with no support.

Well, this has been on their single page website, in red, just above the link you downloaded the app itself. I don’t know how can he make it any more clear.
