iBooks Error Fixed via Latest Corona 1.0-5 Update in Cydia

The original release of Corona 1.0-1

Running into the iBooks error with your untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak on your A4 device? Try the iBooksFix2 patch solution; if that hasn’t worked, then you’ll be happy to know a real fix has been released via an update to Corona in Cydia.

Version 1.0.4 of Corona was released earlier (saurik has now released 1.0-5) to also fix ‘the launchd socket’ issue too, as noted by @pod2g on his blog:

@saurik posted version 1.0.4 of Corona in Cydia. Update now 😉

This fixes both the launchd socket issue (last fix didn’t work randomly) and iBooks.

Thanks to @xvolks for the development and @iH8sn0w for the testing.

If you used redsn0w to jailbreak, just install Corona via Cydia, as noted by @saurik–it will force a reboot afterwards:

Corona (5.0.1 untether) 1.0-4 is now out: users of redsn0w or the older packages should install. This fixes both iBooks and launchd (again).

Let us know how this updated version of Corona works for you!

Update 1: redsn0w 0.9.10b4 has been released that includes the latest iBooks fix.

So I’m wondering if I should uninstall the iBoxFix2 patch?  Seeing as the corona 1.0-5 is the real fix.

Never mind.  Uninstalled old fix.  Installed this latest corona, then re-installed iBooks, and it works fine.  Not that I found anything wrong with the old fix.

See I was thinking the same thing.. If there is no difference I’m not going to bother… People should I bother?

the ‘older’ fix broke ibooks syncing with itunes. so if you want to stay with that, that’s your prerogative

CDMA iPhone 4, 5.0.1 – I uninstalled iBooksFix2, then installed Corona 1.0-5.  I never uninstalled iBooks during the process so when I tried to open it, it just closed. Now when I uninstalled it and re-installed it, I’m getting “iBooks could not be installed at this time.” Anyone know how I might can fix that? Thanks

Try the latest version of redsn0w to re-jailbreak as it was updated with the iBooks fix too. Just untick Cydia.

my Ibooks still crashes, i tried corona and the new jailbreak. I have ibooks but when i go to the app store it lets me download and install it again but it doesnt install.(unable to download application) The blue bar goes 75% and then says it failed, it allows me to retry or cancel.

Might have to do a fresh restore and re-jailbreak as a last resort. Use the custom firmware method if retaining the baseband matters to you.
