Apple’s Jony Ive Reveals Exclusive Apple Watch Sport Bands at Milan Design Gala

The Apple Watch went on display at Milan’s Salone Del Mobile Design earlier today, with Apple’s SVP of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller and design guru Marc Newson in attendance.

It also appears that Apple’s chief of design Jony Ive made it to the event. At the event, Ive revealed exclusive sport band colours for the Apple Watch. Umberta Gnutti Beretta, an art enthusiast and philanthropist, has posted a photo holding a tray of the new bands on her Instagram account.

The colours include new shades of blue, a custom red band, and a variety of tan and skin-tone colours, going from darker browns to lighter tans.

Milan is known as one of the most important fashion cities in the world, and an important destination for Apple as they continue to push the Apple Watch as a fashion accessory. It is still unknown whether Apple will release these new bands to the general public, however it has been rumoured that the company is looking to introduce new casing materials and bands for the Apple Watch later this year.

The Apple Watch went up for pre-order on Friday, April 10 and sold out within 6 hours. Estimated shipping times for the device have now been pushed back to June. Anyone who pre-ordered a device or anyone who wants to try one on, the company has equipped their retail stores in nine countries with special hands-on tables designed specifically for the Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch will hit store shelves on April 24. The new wearable device from Apple will range in price from $350 (US) to $17,000 (US) and is the company’s first new major product category in five years.
