Apple Launches New 15-inch MacBook Pro with Force Touch, 27-inch Retina 5K iMac at $2,399
In line with an earlier report from MacG, Apple today updated the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with a Force Touch trackpad, and introduced a new $2,399 configuration of the 27-inch Retina 5K iMac, while reducing the top-of-the-line 5K iMac to $2,749.
Force Touch was introduced with the Apple Watch, and spread to the 12-inch Retina MacBook then to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, so it was time for the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models to get the neat feature: Built-in force sensors and a Taptic Engine delivering haptic feedback.
“The response to the new MacBook and updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display has been amazing, and today we are thrilled to bring the new Force Touch trackpad, faster flash storage and longer battery life to the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers love the groundbreaking iMac with Retina 5K display, and now with a new lower starting price, even more people can experience the best desktop we’ve ever made.”
The latest 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models feature up to 2.5 times faster flash storage, an additional hour of battery life, and deliver better graphics performance.
As for the new iMac, it features a 3.3 GHz, quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost Speeds up to 3.7 GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics, 8 GB of memory and 1 TB of storage, four USB 3.0 ports, and two Thunderbolt 2 ports .The high-end iMac with Retina 5K display now starts at $2,749.
The latest 15-inch MacBook Pro’s price starts at $2,499 (CAD), while the new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display is at $2,399 (CAD).
