According to developer Steve Troughton-Smith, he has discovered iOS 12.2 beta points to four new iPad models and a new iPod touch. The code suggests these models will not have Face ID, while the iPod touch won’t have Touch ID either.

Troughton-Smith writes, “In theory, iOS 12.2 references four new iPads in WiFi & Cellular variants (perhaps mini, and 9.7″?), all without Face ID, and a (seventh-gen?) iPod touch with no Touch ID nor Face ID.”

Earlier this month, Japanese site Mac Otakara said their sources at CES claimed a new iPod touch was underway.

On Friday, it was reported Apple had received Eurasian Economic Commission approvals for six new iPad models, suggesting new products are incoming.

Rumours have suggested a new iPad mini 5 could see a refresh, with Digitimes claiming one could launch in the first half of this year.

iOS 12.2 beta will debut Apple News in Canada next week, while a “Hey Siri” feature for rumoured AirPods 2 have been leaked as well.

Could Apple be planning a March event to debut new iPads, along with AirPower, AirPods 2 and a seventh-generation iPod touch?
