For customers of Freedom Mobile, some changes are coming today, aside from the launch of new prepaid plans.
Shaw’s wireless carrier now shows ‘Freedom’ in the network name, instead of ‘Home’. Update: ‘Away’ now says ‘Nationwide’.
If you are not seeing this updated network name, all you need to do is text SIM to 40001 (make sure you’re not on Wi-Fi) and you’ll see the ‘Freedom’ name as your carrier. You may need to restart your iPhone to see the name change kick into effect.
This is a small change but a notable one for Freedom Mobile customers.
The company is planning an expansion soon to Prince George and Nanaimo in B.C., along with Medicine Hat and Lethbridge in Alberta.
Thanks Kris
