What to Expect From Apple’s ‘California Streaming’ Event on Sept. 14

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman talks about the new products we could see announced at Apple’s ‘California Streaming’ event, scheduled for Tuesday, September 14. Here are the new products Gurman expects Apple to announce in two days’ time:

iPhone 13

Apple’s September event has always been the event for the company, where it unveils its latest line of flagship smartphones. Gurman firmly expects Apple’s upcoming iPhone 13 lineup to be the star of Tuesday’s event.

The iPhone 13 will feature a similar design and form factor to its predecessor, but a new, faster processor, new camera features, better screens, and completely out of left field, satellite connectivity.

Apple Watch Series 7

Apple will also be announcing the Apple Watch Series 7, which will feature a significant redesign of the wearable, along with a reported increase in size from 40mm/44mm to 41mm/45mm. The Series 7 will also come with a faster processor and ultra-wideband technology, as well as a brand new colour option.

AirPods 3(?)

In his newsletter, Gurman lists third-generation AirPods as coming “this fall”, and not necessarily at Tuesday’s iPhone 13 event.

However, popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported on Saturday that Apple will be announcing the AirPods 3 alongside the iPhone 13 at the ‘California Streaming’ event. The AirPods 3 are expected to feature a fresh design, inspired by the AirPods Pro.

Gurman also touched upon the conclusion of Epic Games’ lawsuit against Apple, which was a loss for the Fortnite developer but helped loosen Apple’s iron grip over the App Store, and developers that contribute to it, in an interesting yet meaningful way.
