Virgin Plus Giving Free 5G Upgrades to Some Customers

Bell’s flanker brand Virgin Plus looks to be giving free 5G network upgrades to select customers on 4G LTE plans. The offer is shown when customers log into their accounts online.

After logging into your Virgin Plus account online, head over to “Others” tab and you should see “5G Access” as an option, available as “$0.00/month”, notes RFD users. Virgin says you need to have a capable 5G device of course. All you need to do is tick off the 5G access option and then click, “submit feature changes”.

What’s the big deal with 5G network upgrades? For starters, you can get faster download speeds on top of better coverage. But it depends on 5G access in your area to begin with. Check Bell’s 5G coverage maps online to see what’s available in your area.

Virgin Plus customers in various provinces are seeing this free 5G upgrade, including BC and Quebec. Let us know in the comments if you see this 5G access freebie in your account. Again, this is not being offered to everyone, but if it is available, you need to opt-in to get it.

Last summer, Virgin Plus launched unlimited 5G plans. Telus also debuted 5G for Koodo as well, but those plans have since been axed (Public Mobile still has 5G). Fido does not have 5G at this time yet.
