Freedom Mobile Expands Global Roaming Plan to More Countries

Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile today announced it is expanding its global roaming plan, dubbed Roam Beyond, to 11 new countries.
Japan, Costa Rica, the Philippines, Malaysia and more are now covered by what Freedom markets as “Canada’s most affordable international roaming plan.” Freedom offers two Roam Beyond plans — $45/month with 15GB of data, and $65/month with 60GB of data. Both plans include unlimited talk and text in Canada and all other countries covered by the service.
In total, Roam Beyond now offers voice and data roaming to 92 destinations:
Albania, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bermuda, Bonaire, Bulgaria, Cayman Islands, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Curacao, Czech Republic, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Isle of Man, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Norway, Phillipines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Saint Barthelemy, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, Turks & Caicos, Ukraine, United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), United States (USA), US Virgin Islands, Uzbekistan, Vatican City, Vietnam
Freedom launched its Roam Beyond plan back in November 2023. At the time, the offer was only available in 73 destinations. The destinations added today include Costa Rica, Finland, the Isle of Man, Japan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Norway, the Philippines, Poland, South Korea, and Sri Lanka.
“International roaming has long been cost prohibitive with exorbitant daily rates and the worry of overages,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Freedom Mobile’s parent company, Quebecor.
“Freedom aims to change this as part of its commitment to providing Canadians with better service, innovative products and meaningful cost savings. Only with Freedom’s Roam Beyond plan can customers access their mobile service in 92 destinations around the world without incremental charges.”
Freedom’s Roam Beyond plans require you to subscribe for a minimum of three months. If you want to switch plans during those three months, you’ll have to pay an additional $30 to do so.
Starting June 20, Freedom is offering 1GB of free international roaming data to eligible new and existing customers who visit a Freedom store and sign up for the Roam Beyond Gig Giveaway. The data from the bonus offer will be usable in up to 92 countries until January 31, 2025.

I'm really happy that the ridiculous changes to Public Mobile made me switch to Freedom Mobile. They are just adding more and more benefits and options than any other provider out there. (Unless you are willing to pay a lot more money for it)
Finally! Adding Costa Rica really makes this tempting now. 🤔 Curious if there will be a competitive response to this expansion.
The Big 3 does not see Freedom being a threat and treats them at the same level as Public, Lucky and Chatr. The churn rate to Freedom is nothing compared to other carriers. Until, the churn to freedom is significant enough, the Big 3 will never take them seriously.
Well its now starting to hit Bell where it hurts. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/material-underperformance-bce-stock-falls-after-mobile-results-disappoint-amid-stiff-competition-174253466.html
Buried the lead story on the international data giveaway didn’t they?
The biggest problem for me is that Freedom Mobile works better outside Canada than within. Within Canada you still have the stupid "Nationwide" roaming thing, where you rarely get data coverage (in BC anyway). Go outside Canada and roaming works great.
It even works in Cuba, and shockingly well too. $30 for 5GB over 30 days was awesome compared to the $15 a day the big three offer
